A gist of the department:

The Assamese Department of the Tingkhong college was established as an integral part alongside the college in the year 1972. The founder Head of the department was Mr. Gopal Saikia. The Honours course of the Department was started on the year 1987. Innumerable students have completed their education with flying colours. The students have been Sufficiently recruited on different Govt. and Non-Govt. Institutions.

Departmental Vision:

The department was founded with a visionary perspective to satiate the knowledge of Assamese literature and culture among the students coming from diversified realm of the society. It has been organised various extra-cocurricular activities like workshops, discussion forums, celebrated World Mother-Tongue Day, Shilpi Divox, Rabha Divox, Birth Day of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika among the students in order to generate awareness about Assamese literature and Culture.

 

Mission:

  • The department of Assamese, Tingkhong College aims to impart knowledge in the field of Language and Literature among the students of higher secondary to degree level.
  • To introduce the basic concepts about the creative writing, Project writing, Indian and world literature among the students.

Plan of Action:

  1. a) A. Program in Assamese on Regular mode under Dibrugarh University.
  2. b) Certificate courses like Assamese DTP, Proof Reading, Grammar & Lexicon, Script writing, Anchoring, Folk Art & Literature.
  3. c) Planning to organize an online Faculty Development Program.
  4. d) Planning to organize a National Seminar.
  5. e) Planning to organize a National Workshop.
  6. f) Planning to setup a cultural museum and study centre.
