Tingkhong College was established in 1972. Tingkhong College is affiliated to Dibrugarh University. It has received Deficit grant in 1987. It is a co-educational Arts College and the Political Science Department has been an indispensible department of the college and is an old department. A large number of students prefer political science as one of the subject of their course every year. In the college honours course in political science was started from 1972. Since then, a number of students have graduated with honours in political science from this college. Similarly, a large number of students have graduated with political science as a subject in their non-honours course.

The Department Of English was established in the year 1972.  The department started imparting education in the rural area of Tingkhong with Higher Secondary education. And Under Graduate Course was introduced in later years. At present the department offers choice base credit system under graduate programme with honours in English, along with the compulsory papers such Ability-Enhancement Compulsory Courses and Skill Enhancement Course. The department, ever since its inception has been imparting higher secondary education in the subjects of English and Alternative English.

The vision of the Department of Physics is to provide quality higher education with an attempt to inspire, prepare, and empower students of its catchment area to succeed in a changing world.  

The Department of Sociology of Tingkhong College was introduced in the year 1972 as Core Course and in the year 1991 as Honours Course. Sunit Gogoi (1972) was the founder teacher (HoD) of the Sociology Department. He was followed by Jogneswar Gogoi as HoD.  Another faculty member of the department was late Bhuban Ch. Handique (1986). Present faculty members of the department are Deepanjali Borah, Dr. Diganta kr. Gogoi and Rashmi Rekha Handique.

The Department of Botany was founded in the year 2023 and offers undergraduate programme in the subject. The department corresponds to the academic calendar of Dibrugarh University and follows the curriculum created by Dibrugarh University. The department can accept 40 students annually at the entry level of the B.Sc. programme, exclusively on the basis of merit, and it has sufficient laboratory facilities for its students.

The Department of Chemistry was established in the year 2023 and imparts education in Chemistry at Undergraduate level. The department follows the curriculum designed by the Dibrugarh University and adheres to the academic calendar of the institute. The department has adequate laboratory facilities for its students and has the capacity to admit 40 students at entry level in B.Sc. course every year strictly on merit basis.

The department of Zoology, Tingkhong College was established in the year 2023 with some clear mission and forecited vision to promote and popularised Scientific thoughts and temperament in Tingkhong region.

Department of Mathematics, Tingkhong College has been one of the major Departments right from the inception of the college in 2023 and offers undergraduate courses in Mathematics. The Department has been striving its best for academic and personal excellence. The department is currently offering various Courses in Mathematics and its related field under the FYUGP curriculum of Dibrugarh University. The fundamental philosophy of the Department is to inculcate not only intellect and creativity among our students through their active engagement in academic activities but to realize their extra-academic and extra-curricular disposition as well, critical for making a productive member of the society. Each faculty member closely monitors every student throughout the academic year in classes, tutorials, internal mid-term, and final examinations. Apart from normal academics, the department has been publishing a yearly Mathematics wall magazine and has been taking classes in Mathematics and reasoning for every student of the College who has been preparing for competitive examination.

A large number of students prefer History as one of the subject of their course every year. In the college honours course in History was started from 2005. Since then, a number of students have graduated with honours in History from this college and two students have got achievement as topper in BA final in the year 2014 and 2020 under Dibrugarh University. There are numbers of students has also got top thirty ranks in the BA final result under Dibrugarh University. Similarly, a large number of students have graduated with History as a subject in their honours and non-honours course.
